Chapter-after-chapter of slogging through harshly linear levels fighting unsatisfying battles against an army of samey fodder. Now and then the action breaks into a button-mashing quick time event that must be repeated over and over until you get it right.

The gameplay, similar to the first instalment, is third person action, where the player must work through a series of areas, taking down waves of enemies. A series of combos, and different moves are the core to gameplay, with the player needing to navigate the landscape as they slowly take on the the position the game throws at them.
The game also featured traversal, and exploration mechanics, similar to most third person action games in this category. The gameplay itself is an even bigger mess than the story. Afro Samurai 2 features one attack button with no combos to perform. Level-up system is kind of vague — the more you use a move, the more points are attributed to it, and the more complex the skill sets you unlock. For everyone else: move along, nothing to see here. There are elements of the Afro Samurai franchise I like, Much of the game consists of beyond campy voice acting, like anyone was invited into the studio for recording sessions, and simple art stills that fail to effectively tell any sort of cohesive narrative.
